Nervous dental patients

Can I alleviate my fear of the dentist?

Yes!

We understand that some people are so scared of the dentist that they avoid dental treatment altogether.

At SmileWorks all our staff and dental care professionals are sympathetic and recognise that some patients experience real dental anxiety. We’ve developed new techniques and approaches to help. Our dental clinic welcomes and specialises in pain free treatment for nervous and anxious patients.

SmileWorks modern dentistry and orthodontics is very customer focused and we offer a  range of sedation and relaxation techniques to help anxious clients overcome their fears and achieve real dental health and the smiles of their dreams.

Why not take the first step now by calling 01273964999 and speaking to Karin our friendly nervous dental patient coordinator?

What is dental sedation?

Our experience shows that most clients are so relaxed in our care and surroundings, that after getting to know us, they’re able to undertake treatment that they couldn’t previously have envisaged elsewhere.

Nevertheless, an effective way to treat the most nervous of dental patients may be via intravenous dental sedation. The sedative drugs have a relaxing and calming effect but don’t prevent communication between dental team and patient so treatment can still be carried out easily. Weight, age and medical condition will be assessed before suitability for this type of sedation is determined but this would all be discussed during the consultation with the dentist.

Any such treatment is performed here in our clinic, in surroundings with which clients will be familiar, in the expert hands of Simon your dentist and our expert dental sedationist Rex.

How will IV sedation in the clinic affect me?

Whilst IV sedation will make you drowsy and unaware of the treatment you are undergoing, you will remain lucid enough to communicate and cooperate with the dental team. The effects of the sedative will take time to wear off and you won’t be able to drink alcohol, drive or work machinery during this time so it is important that someone can help you home after treatment and keep a careful eye on you for sometime afterwards. Your SmileWorks dental team will tell you how long it will be before the drugs are completely clear from your body.

Will I ever feel differently about visiting the dentist?

It is more than likely! As you get to know and trust your dentist, hygienist and other members of the dental team at our clinic, your fears will vanish. Our experience shows that you will come to see your regular visit to the dentist as just another part of your normal life. Please take the first step and call 0127396499 now where Karin will be awaiting your call.
