Dr Simon Horsley: Principal Surgeon
BDS (U.Lond.), LDS, RCS (Eng.)
GDC no. 56134
Simon qualified from University College, London in 1981, where he shared his year’s prize for operative technique. He worked as a postgraduate dentist and in the practice of Michael Austin, before opening his own practice at 250 Dyke Road, Brighton in 1986. He continued to lecture newly qualified dentists as a dental practice trainer and active member of the British Dental Association before moving to Germany in 1990 to research new dental techniques and the high technical level of German dentistry.
His discoveries there led to the development of a busy general and orthodontic clinic and laboratory specialising in complex mouth reconstructions, orthodontics and dental implant work. Simon further studied advanced general dentistry and orthodontics there, in Australia and the USA and continued to train graduate dentists, hygienists and dental nurses in his German practice alongside presenting lectures to colleagues throughout the country on specialist dental topics and to parents and teachers on dental health.
In 2004 the education of his children brought him back to the UK where he rapidly established a successful dental and orthodontic clinic in Southampton.
Simon is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry who believe that aesthetic dentistry must complement the overall general and oral health of the patient and do no harm. Simon encourages treatment decisions based on evidence-based research combined with experienced clinical judgment. He acts as a mentor to young dentists and works as an expert witness and on treatment claims for AVIVA insurance and Denplan. He’s currently also doing further evidence based research at Warwick University in the fields of cosmetic and advanced restorative dentistry and orthodontics.
2013 has seen Simon’s much anticipated return to Dyke Road to re-establish the practice where he worked 22 years ago. Simon is passionate about delivering high quality dental health in the gentlest possible manner and is looking forward excitedly to the dental health of Brighton and Hove benefiting from the mix of dental and orthodontic skills and the unique breadth of experience and expertise that he’s been fortunate to accumulate.
Simon is a recognised dentist of the British Olympic Association’s Passport Scheme and helped athletes with their dental preparations for the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games.
Married with two daughters, outside of dentistry Simon has wide ranging interests in the world of sport and at home enjoys socialising with friends, developing his culinary skills and beekeeping.
Dr Debjit Mukherjee
GDC no. 271935
BDS King’s College London 2017
Born and raised in Hertfordshire, Debjit completed both his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science and his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the prestigious King’s College London. Since qualifying, he has worked in private practices across Surrey and London.
Debjit enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and has a particular interest in implant, surgical, and cosmetic treatments, including veneers and full-mouth rehabilitations. With a meticulous eye for detail and a passion for continuous learning, he has trained with leading experts in restorative and implant dentistry across the UK, Europe, and South Africa. This ongoing development allows him to offer his patients the most up-to-date techniques and high-quality outcomes.
He takes genuine pleasure in getting to know his patients, taking the time to understand their goals and tailor treatment to their individual needs. His calm, empathetic approach also makes him particularly good at helping children and those who may feel anxious about dental visits.
Outside of dentistry, Debjit can usually be found in the kitchen — making plenty of noise (and mess) while experimenting with new recipes!
