Why choose Invisalign?

Increasingly popular with adults and teenagers, Invisalign® offers a discreet, minimally invasive, and highly effective way to change the appearance of your smile. It allows you to achieve your dream straighter smile in comfort, without any metal brackets or wires digging in and irritating your skin.

Invisalign® is extremely easy to use, as custom-made aligners gradually move the positions of your teeth. All you need to do is wear each aligner for the recommended 20-22 hours each day and let the gradual and gentle forces get to work. Invisalign® blends perfectly into your everyday life and requires no changes to your diet or lifestyle as the aligners can be removed for eating, drinking and brushing your teeth.

Invisalign’s innovative clear aligners are virtually invisible in the mouth when worn, giving a confidence boost even during treatment. No-one needs to know you are on a journey to beautifully straight teeth until they notice you smiling much more once your treatment is complete!

Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign in Brighton & Hove

Most of SmileWorks orthodontic clients in Brighton have heard about ‘invisible or clear braces options’ and ask about their suitability for orthodontic treatment with Invisalign® when they visit our Hove dental clinic.

Invisalign® is most suitable for correcting mildly crooked teeth or those that may have relapsed after previous orthodontic treatment. However, with a high level of client commitment Invisalign® is also capable of correcting a wide range of more complex orthodontic problems. This may involve the addition of tooth-coloured attachments to the teeth to enable the clear plastic aligners to grip the teeth more effectively.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign® follows our special instructions to create an individually designed series of clear thin plastic removable aligners. These apply a gentle controlled amount of force to the teeth, causing them to gradually move into the predetermined position. Before the start of your treatment, using special 3D technology, we’ll be able to show you how we predict your teeth will move during the treatment and your anticipated new smile at the end of your series of aligners.

Like all types of orthodontic appliance, aligners are foreign objects in the mouth and can sometimes take a little time to adapt to. However, as they are nearly invisible almost no one can tell you are wearing aligners, so you can feel relaxed and confident and not at all self-conscious during as well as after your Invisalign® treatment.

Invisalign® only works when you’re wearing the aligners, so to achieve excellent results we advise they’re worn full time, day, and night, except for tooth cleaning. This makes it easier to adapt to their presence but does require a fair amount of patient commitment as they are of course removable. A new aligner is required every two weeks and will feel tight when initially inserted, but this soon passes.

How long will Invisalign take?

Treatment length depends upon the unique prescription of your case. The average Invisalign® treatment is nine to eighteen months but may be longer if further aligners have to be made, for instance after non-compliance in full-time aligner wear, or on the rare occasions when the aligners do not reposition the teeth precisely as predicted.

We’ll need you to visit Smileworks in Brighton on average every 6-8 weeks when we’ll supply sufficient aligners to progress your new smile until your next appointment until we agree that your Invisalign® treatment is complete. At that that stage there may be some fine tuning required to create your perfect smile and we’ll make you invisible retainers to ensure that it stays that way.

Why do so many people choose Invisalign?

The convenience, effectiveness and easy to use nature of Invisalign® has made it the straightening system of choice for millions of patients looking to improve their smiles worldwide. It’s the clear choice for patients looking for a cosmetic approach to their orthodontic treatment, eliminating the worry that they will feel self-conscious wearing traditional metal braces. The removable aligners fit seamlessly into each patient’s daily lives and do not require any major changes to diet or brushing routines. Invisalign® offers a very successful way to boost confidence and achieve a dream smile. Visit our Brighton dental practice to find out if you are suitable for Invisalign®.

Finance options available

We know that Invisalign® treatment can seem expensive, which is why our dentist in Brighton & Hove is pleased to offer flexible payment options to help spread the cost.

Will I need to wear retainers after my treatment?

Yes, you will need to wear retainers to keep your teeth in their new positions following your Invisalign® treatment. Teeth have a habit of moving out of place, so you will need to wear retainers on a part time basis (usually overnight) for as long as you wish your teeth to stay straight. You will be given fixed or removable retainers.

You may find it takes a few days to get used to the teeth aligners, and may have a slight lisp at first, but you should be talking clearly and confidently before long.

Are the teeth aligners comfortable?

Yes, Invisalign® aligners have been designed with comfort in mind, enabling you to easily wear them for up to 22 hours a day. They fit snugly over the teeth and have no metal brackets or wires to irritate the skin.

How long do I need to wear the aligners for each day?

You need to wear your teeth aligners for around 22 hours a day for your treatment to be most effective. You can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing your teeth and playing contact sports.

What are Invisalign® invisible braces made of?

The Invisalign® aligners are made from strong medical grade thermoplastic material, which has been uniquely developed for the Invisalign® system.
What should I do if I lose an aligner?

What should I do if I lose an aligner?

If you lose one of your aligners, please contact us as soon as possible for further advice. In the meantime, you can wear an aligner from your previous set to prevent your teeth from moving too far out of line. We may also advise that you move straight onto your next set of aligners, depending on your individual case.

How much does Invisalign® cost?

The cost of treatment depends on each individual case, with complex cases needing more aligners and therefore are more expensive. We can give you an exact treatment cost based on the examination and assessment we carry out during your initial consultation. We offer payment plans and finance options to help you spread the cost of treatment.

How long does Invisalign® treatment take?

Treatment length varies from case to case, but most Invisalign® treatments are completed in 9-18 months. Straightforward cases have a faster treatment time, while patients needing more complex straightening can expect to wear their aligners for longer. We can advise you of your expected treatment time after your initial consultation.
